I got to know Ashley in high school release time seminary. We had a musically talented class that year and singing and music always brought the spirit. Among many, the spirit that her talents brought into that class, and the gospel lessons within, helped me rediscover my own testimony of the gospel. Looking back, there isn't a particular memory of Ashley that really stands out to me. There is not one singular moment that stands out. But I do remember very clearly that she was a constant and a friend you could talk to you and share with. At the core, she is a very good person. She is a pure person with pure motives and character. I think that that is the best compliment you can give to someone. At the end of the day, among those that really know you, it won't be the big glossy moments in life that really define you but the smaller moments that you think no one takes note of. In high school and university, it is too often that we look out for ourselves first. Ashley never did. She was there for everyone who needed a kind word or a listener. She was patient and understanding. The world needs more of these people. She paid attention to the "one" among the many. I know that everyone who has posted on here, and perhaps thousands more who have not. will miss her. But I know that she will continue to move us in ways unseen. I had not had the chance to talk to Ashley for quite some time. The last time I talked to her was right after I returned from my mission over four years ago. Even so, I am a much better person for having known her and seeing her quiet example. Ashley was one of the most Christlike people I have ever met and I hope to be able to put forth that some light and warmth towards others that she, even perhaps unknowingly, put forth towards me.
